Greetings everyone, I hope you're all very well.
We're due to fly out August 3rd - flights are happening and the UK government have lifted the restriction on non-essential travel to Spain so we are very likely to be coming. What are everyone's experiences so far? Anyone flown in yet? Can anyone explain the deal with masks? What's open in terms of bars and restaurants? We're going to be staying in Minerva, which we know very well.

Nicke, if you read Rosebush’s recent posts in the the four threads preceding this one she has been describing the current situation on a regular basis.

Not all the countries in the UK have had restrictions lifted. You have to go into a 2 week quarantine on return to Scotland from Spain. This is because it is estimated that only 28 out of 100,000 people in Scotland have Covid-19, whereas in Spain it is 330. The difference is seen as being too great to allow an air bridge between Scotland and Spain.

Nicke...Maybe changes happening next week re masks:-
Meeting to be held Monday to analyse the policy and 'if approved' masks will become mandatory next day or with 48hrs.
It appears a string of outbreaks have occurred in Granada and in a southern region of Malaga, all limited and under control..
If this ruling is approved we will need to carry 2 spare masks, as its advised not to wear them for more then 2hrs..x
At present i would say about 85% are wearing masks, but new visitors don't seem to even have one with them, although its easy to keep 1.5mt distance, things will change with more flights coming in..
We just make extra stops for cold drink or coffee, just to have masks off for an hour, all bars/restaurants have tables set at 1.5mt and following all safety measures, plus the beaches are very safe, extra life guards & security guys walking along the beach all day, if crowding at any entrance to beach it will be closed, until numbers drop, but lots of beach area along the coast..
Enjoy your stay, quite a bit of activity near to your apt...x
F.F hope when safe to do so, Scotland gets the green light for airbridge to Spain..x

Thanks Rosebush. Appreciate your insights. I'll keep an eye out on the result of the vote tomorrow. As it stands then the masks are mandatory when out and about but not on the beach and not in bars/restaurants etc? Presumably you have to have masks in supermarkets etc?
Just trying to gauge the affect on the kids etc whilst we're in town.

Nicke you must wear gloves & mask in all supermarkets, some smaller one's have sanitizer by the door, children under 6 are exempt and anyone with medical problems, they need to carry GP letter, masks not needed either around pools..
It's been easy to keep 1.5mt distance for last few weeks, but its getting busy now, and lots of weekend visitors not wearing them, even when streets get full in the evening..
The few outbreaks were from inland and have been contained, hopefully the ruling may go in favour of folks just being sensible and keeping distance, but with August looming and Spain shutting down for a month, masks maybe a good thing....if no further major outbreaks rules could change again by Autumn when its cooler..
If you keep to pools or beach kids should be fine, and eating out will be okay for them, its just the walk to and from, we have seen lots of young kiddies wearing them and they seem to think its fun bit harder for us big kids though..I hate the blooming things, we go home on Wednesday on first flight into Malaga with Jet2, and its masks from when I leave apt, we have 2 spare one's in hand luggage so I can use fresh one for plane and dispose of that when leaving airport, then fresh one for taxi home..hope its raining when we land just want to breathe fresh air, I'm leaving you all the sunshine here..
Have a great time and all other Benalites due out this year..xx
