We made our first trip since January.
6am plane from on 20th July from Manchester. Plane was 90% full but this was pre quarantine announcement. First morning was cleaning up apartment which definitely felt unloved after being shut up for 6 months and had afternoon tea at the Vineyard at Los Porches (and went back for the same later in the trip).
Walks along the paseo were very quiet mainly I think due to the mask situation. As August arrived it did get busier especially the beach, but no problem getting sunbeds.
It is sad for some of the British businesses relying primarily on the visitor business. Spanish restaurants were doing really well. I could walk through Bonanza Sq in the afternoon and not see anyone. Even Bar Espana wasn't busy at lunch but still a must for me.
Plenty of room on trains and buses and taxis were very grateful for business.
New places we tried all near enough next to each other on Ave de Bonanza were La Zanahoria, a veg restaurant excellent lasagne and great red wine at only 2 euros a glass. Next door but one, a new Italian, food freshly made worth a visit but generally pricier than average but very nice. The Gravy Boat (old John Lemon) has very friendly hosts and food is freshly cooked.
We used Halfway Inn when in need of British food! Our usual fave CBs hadn't reopened yet. Potters Lodge was the usual high standard, as was KC Sunshine on the front and a trip to the Carvery ( we hadn't been for a couple of years).
We had a couple of nice tapas trips to Fuengirola and Malaga. Our usual day is a walk along the paseo to Torremolinos, but probably did this 2/3 time a week rather than 4/5 days per week due to the heat and mask wearing. However, the mask wearing became second nature after a bit. but it still felt good to take off when you sat down at a bar.
We returned home 20th Aug with at most 60 passengers on the plane.
NB for property owners - I get IBI receipts from the offices in Arroyo which I then use for non - residents tax. I'm not sure what others do, but I went to the offices and found I had to ring for an appointment which was a further 2 weeks. The tel numbers for appointments are 618679709 or 952579809. Appointments can be made for Arroyo or the Pueblo.
