Sadly, in October my wife, Jan, passed away following a catastrophic brain haemorrhage .
I now have to go through the process of putting the apartment, which was in joint names, into my sole ownership
Also, we had a Spanish joint bank account, that also needs to be made into just my name.
Anybody done anything like this before ?

I am so very sorry to read of Jan's passing.
We have never been faced with the difficult circumstances you now find yourself in and although we have everything "in order" in the UK would not really know where to start in Spain. We have a will in Spain but, perhaps like a lot of other people, avoid the awkward conversations. I hope your solicitor is a good one.

D.D so very sorry to read your sad news, i know Spanish law can be a minefield, hoping your Spanish lawyers can help, if possible take a family member with you, when you go to discuss any legal matters.xx

All done and dusted !
I gave a Gestor Power of Attorney
The final cost was 5956.72 Euros
This covered cost of the inheritance, pay taxes, public Notary, land register office, obtaining the last will, fees, etc

Glad to hear you got sorted. You did well considering the current position. A bit on the expensive side but at least now everything is correct and legal and you have peace of mind.
