Hi Benalites Have any of you had your vaccines yet, i know a few of you are in the younger age groups, so have your parents had theirs, in West Mids the roll out seems to be going really well, and numbers of new cases are falling at last.. Do you know of anyone in Benal that has had their vaccine, sadly things a bit slow out there, not sure if its lack of organisation or vaccines also the roll out groups differ to UK, after 70's they are doing teachers & food pickers, then the 60's, through to all adults by end of Summer.. Hopefully UK will not be banned until August and some of you can make your planned trips out there.. How as the lockdown effected you all work wise, some of my family have managed to work from home, except my 2 nieces who are nurses on the front line, one caught Covid on her ward and was poorly for 3weeks, but both have had first dose of vaccine now.. My Grandson is back at University but G,Daughter like all school children still doing online lessons, feel so sorry for the children & teenagers .. Will really miss our 3mth Spring visit, it was our light at the end of the tunnel, but maybe we can get a break sometime in Autumn.. Stay Safe..xx

Hi Rose. I've been fortunate to have my first vaccination although I'm not in the over 70's categories. The Hospice where I volunteer put us forward as candidates and fortunately this was agreed. No sore arm but I did feel a little off colour for 24 hours.
I've not heard of anyone having the jab in Benal yet. We are in touch with friends out there but nobody has mentioned it. I don't want to be negative but Summer hols still seem to me to be unlikely. Hope I'm wrong.

Neil so pleased you have had a vaccine, and your 2nd dose date is soon, your volunteer work I'm sure is appreciated even more during this pandemic It was good to hear yesterday some news about vaccine passports for travel, the news sounds uplifting but its a huge task, so doubt it will be here until year end, and for those that want to travel 'if allowed' PCR testing is readily available now at reasonable prices at most airports, but for us it will be wait and see how things go by Autumn.. Take Care..x

Hello all! Thanks for your update Rosebush! And good to know Neil has had the jab. The work you do Neil is so very much appreciated.
We are not eligible for our jabs yet. This is the first time since I retired that I am too young for something!🤣🤣 My 89 year old Mum has not had hers as she is housebound and can't get to the surgery. She had Covid-19 last year and she thinks she's immune however!
Our eldest daughter is still having to go to work with the threat of dismissal if she stays at home. The ridiculous thing is that last year she worked from home for 18 weeks with no time off at all and with no complaints. 13 year old grandson is quite disciplined with his on-line learning thank goodness. He wants to become a police officer and knows a good standard of education is vital. Another grandson has worked from home solidly since last March and misses his team and the office banter! Husband and I have not divorced yet! There has been lots of live cricket on TV which we both love fortunately! We had a worrying few days last week as my sister and her family live on the outskirts of Perth in Western Australia, only 20 minutes from the bushfires. They had all valuables and important documents boxed up in case of evacuation but thankfully the wind changed direction. Lots of phone calls between us as you can imagine! Haven't had any news from Benal for a while but I try to keep updated through El Pais and Sur in English. Our cleaner sends us lots of photos of the beach, the Paseo, flowers in bloom at mini-golf and last week Castle Bil-Bil in the sunshine. He lives in Torremolinos so doesn't know any of the local Benal gossip! That's my news folks! Keep safe everyone. Fond regards, BT. X Robert.....thanks for your message. X

B.T nice to get pic's off your cleaner from Benal, i check cams each day and watch all videos that appear on F.B Still not much advancement with vaccines out there my friend is 82 lived out there for 20yrs not had any call yet, they are still doing care homes, really hope EU get more vaccines soon, Spain I'm sure would use the army to help give them.. Will GP do home visits to give your Mom her vaccines, see lots doing this on news, and Matt Hancock has stated this as well.. Shame your Daughter is being forced to go out to work, if she can work from home, as that's the message from Government! Son & DIL both worked from home since last April, they are coping well, have a routine, mid morning coffee break for 15mins, quick stop for lunch then walk the dog for 30mins, then back to work until 6pm...and on weekends they along with G.daughter take very long walks out in the open woodlands, it keeping them sane, so my G.daughter tells me Think teenagers are finding home schooling hard, they must miss the social side of school so much, my G.Daughter next week starts her mock A levels at home, she already has her 4 offers from chosen Uni's.. still not made her choice yet, so nice to hear your 13yr old G.Son is also working hard its great when they have a career path to work for... Pleased your Sister's home escaped any damaged during the bushfires, i have seen on news how very quickly these fires spread I see posts on F.B from folks hoping to get to Benal for May/June, but unless vaccines roll out much quicker from now, i doubt any flights until late Summer or even Autumn, we had our vaccines Sunday at 6pm, so many in queues all zig zagging at 2mt distance, felt a bit odd as not been around so many people for months! We can only hope to see Benal soon as its safe to do so.. Take Care everyone..xx

Husband and I had our vaccination yesterday! I was struck by how many volunteers were there to organise car parking, directing people to the appropriate tent, cleaning chairs etc. Big thank you to all of them! In the "recovery room" a couple were on the phone to friends in Spain who were advising them not to make any plans to go out THIS YEAR.
And I received an email yesterday telling me that my Freedom Pass is on it's way......shame we can't go anywhere with it! Costa del Sol looks lovely today!❤❤😀
Keep safe my precious Forum Friends. Fond regards to all, BT.

Lovely to hear more of you have had your jabs hope side effects if any have passed now, i just hated the nausea for 5days... We are eagerly awaiting Mondays briefing, although i do not want lots of things to open all at once, just to see a few things ease will lift our spirits, i know families will want to see loved one's in care homes, so hope this happens, not sure allowing all children back to school at the same time is wise Reading on face book so many folks wanting to get back to Benal, some have hols booked for June, sadly not sure that will happen, did read Sanchez wants to vaccinate 70% of the country before travel opens up, and they are still doing care homes, followed by over 80's next, so working down to over 50's will take a while.. Its lovely seeing video's on F.B and pic's of Arroyo and the paseo bars, so many business's needing our Euro's, and at €1.13 more to spread about so fingers crossed the vaccine roll out picks up speed.. Take Care xx

On the Andalucia.com website there is speculation that it will take five years to vaccinate (including the second dose) everyone in Andalucia!!! They simply don't have enough doses. I have kept in touch with my bit of Paradise on You Tube.....lovely walks all recorded recently which have taken me around Paloma Park, Arroyo, beach walks along the Paseo and a city walk around Malaga. My daughter was worried that I might get depressed watching them but they left me feeling quite cheerful and happy to see that life goes on as normal for lots of folk. Sadly plenty of bars and restaurants closed but South Beach seems to be doing well!
Husband and I had no side effects whatsoever...............had the Pfizer jab. Hope your wife is okay after her vaccination chawky.
Fond regards to all, BT.

F.F pleased to read you and your wife both had your vaccines, it seems the Oxford jab leaves folks with headaches and muscle pains for a few days, but small price to pay.. Great to hear the P.M is bringing UK out of lockdown at a 'slow pace' don't think i could face a 4th lockdown, will be nice to sit outside a cafe enjoying a coffee on April 12th .. Hope Spain get more vaccines soon, as roll out still very slow, and could be end of year before all residents get second dose, but Sanchez did say when Spain reaches 70% of vaccinations he would start tourism again, not sure if that means just with EU? Found this bit of data if link works, if not google does :-)) www.spainenglish.com/coronavirus-spain/Stay safe..xx

Both sets of our parents have had theirs now - my in-laws a few weeks back in the over 70s and my own parents just last week in the over 60s. I too hope that things can speed up for Spain as, with us hopefully having international travel opened back up here in early Summer-ish time, our holiday will depend on Spain accepting flights and there being no quarantine. I'm totally crossing everything as we haven't been since 2018!

At present, Scotland is taking a slightly more cautious approach to the easing of restrictions than England. The easing that starts on the 12th of April in England starts the last week of April in Scotland. Having said that, if the statistics support it, the easing could start earlier than this. The hairdresser will need to use my hedge cutters on my hair by the last week in April :-)
