All being well we are due to fly out of Malaga on Sunday 12th for two weeks. One of our daughters will join us for a week which will do her good......she hasn't had a break in nearly 2 and a half years as she was saving her leave for a long trip to Australia which was then cancelled. She's good company and likes the beach and Mullarkeys so she'll be fine! We asked her if she wanted to go anywhere else and her next suggestion was Once Upon a Time! The woman has good taste! I thought the day 2 tests on return to the UK were supposed to be cheaper!!! They're not, except from the firms who have received bad reviews! My next travelogue as you know will mention the beach frequently!! However we need a new hot water tank so that will make an interesting ( ??) change! Fond regards to all, BT.

Hope all goes well with your flights B.T some cancellations with Ryanair mentioned on F.B this morning, also some airlines doing pick ups from other airports making the trip to Malaga 5.5hrs Lovely that your daughter is going with you, and you enjoy the same things The day 2 Covid tests i feel are a rip off !! just wish the UK new Covid cases would drop, do not understand why we are still getting 32-35 thousand a day, and 200 losing their life plus Spain have taken UK off the approved list and put onto a Special K list Good news though as all along CDS the figures are dropping, think Benal was 157 yesterday.. my small city is around 380! Have a great family holiday..will look forward to your reports Take Care..xx

Good flight, on time and not too much hassle at Malaga airport. The Health control check queue was longer than passport control. Talking of passports..........arrived at our apartment in the early hours of this morning to discover that I had lost mine between Health check and getting a taxi. Phone calls to the airport and Police and no sign of it. A trek up to Arroyo to report it missing to Police and told to go back tomorrow. Tried getting on to the British Consulate in Malaga but it's all automated leaving me so frustrated. Starting again tomorrow. On a positive note (🤣) went to the watch repair man (success) and Fountain Square for lunch which was lovely as always, despite raindrops falling on our heads. Feel a song coming on!!!
Lots of aircraft about carrying water to the fires near Estepona which are horrendous. Rain is forecast so hopefully that will aid the firefighters who are working flat out.
Going to Mullarkeys tonight which I am not at all looking forward to as feeling really bad (tummy churning constantly!) about my passport. My husband is really supportive and philosophical about the whole matter bless him!
The area between CB's and OK restaurant is being worked on at long last. Sorry Rosebush but they will be there when you arrive.
So, a different type of travelogue from me this time!!
Take care everyone, Fond regards, BT.

Another interesting day!! Went to Arroyo Police station to complete document re my lost passport. Interpreter arrived but was pretty useless as we couldn't understand each other! She admitted she was still learning! Eventually got my passport denounced and need to go to the British Consulate in Malaga tomorrow to apply for a temporary passport just to get back to the UK. Fortunately we love Malaga and will make a day of it! Lunch today was in the Wine Bar where I was stung by a wasp!!!! (Not my week is it?) Had a drink in Potters and as always met some lovely people. Last night we ate in Boo'z bar opposite Hotel la Roca (lovely!) and went on to Mullarkeys to see Revival who were good. Glad I went out last night as this passport malarkey is dominating my thoughts!! Rain this morning but okay now. Still cloudy but humid. Tonight....Sky Bar at Las Arenas and then who knows? !!!! Rosebush......serious work going on in the land between CB's and OK Restaurant. A friend has said the fires near Estepona are under control at last. Take care everyone! Fond regards, BT.

Hi B.T so sorry to read you have lost your passport, what an ordeal, can imagine how you must feel, hope you get a temp replacement today with not to much hassle cannot understand why it wasn't handed in at airport its no good to anyone else! Pleased though you are still enjoying your favourite places, sounds like weather is back to normal today, never wish for rain, but pleased it did rain to help put out the Estepona fires.. Hope on the building plot they work really hard so most of the build is finished when we get there, we love the peaceful spot and enjoy our quiet coffee mornings there, but looks like we will be out now everyday!! Hope all folks living there have ear plugs does it give any notice of a completion date ? Will you post and let us know how things went at Embassy..xx

This week things have gone terribly awry!! On advice of Police, interpreter and our Fiscal Rep went to the British Consulate in Malaga where they would not see me without an appointment. Asked if I could make one and one can only do it online......I even spoke to a chap on the phone who was in the building and he was so unhelpful. Consulate website even states that visitors can go between 9 and 1. So......tried to do it all online and the website has crashed........... I am now close to cutting my wrists......Took 2 hours to get to Malaga and find the place! We were going to stay in Malaga but we both just wanted to get home to Benal! I have to admit to a few tears!! Anyway, lunch in South Beach was lovely and we met up with some people we know and like! Rosebush, there is no completion date at the building site but then this is Spain! Paseo and restaurants much quieter than in August.
I will end this post by saying- KEEP YOUR PASSPORT CLOSE TO YOUR HEART, NOT YOUR HAND!
Beach tomorrow at last! Fond regards to all, BT.

I hope your trip gets better BT. South Beach sounds like good medicine. My son returned home at the weekend following a week in Benal. He uses Uber in the UK and noticed adverts for Uber whilst queueing to show his forms at Malaga on the outbound journey. He tried them and it worked a treat. He arrived at midnight and it was less than 15 Euros to the apartment and 16 Euros to return. I might try it out.
When I was there I noticed the development had changed it's name - I can't remember the new name but the previous name was Marina View a bit of a stretch if you ask me. No wonder it has been changed.

Hi B.T sorry to read you got no help at Embassy, and the guy you spoke to was also unhelpful, a lose of passport is a very urgent thing to sort, so shame on our Embassy! I'm sure i would have shed tears too.. Have you managed to get an online appointment yet ? hope so, as once you have a temp passport you can get on and enjoy your holiday.. Post if any developments ..xx Chawky we saw the 'Marina View' poster going up a couple of years ago, my neighbour even found the Company Ad on their website, and pic's being displayed were of sea views & marina!! its supposed to have a pool on top floor, so from there you may get a sea view, but no marina, i'm hoping its finished in 6mths x

I know exactly how you feel BT. Sounds very much like the Consulate in Barcelona. When my wife had her passport and money stolen a few years ago we went to the Consulate and I've never had the misfortune to deal with such an unhelpful and dismissive bunch of jobsworths. We only had a couple of days before our flights home so we were on edge before having to find the place. You say your money has been stolen and the first thing they tell you is that they want (I think it was 60 Euros at that time) and a passport photo. When you remind them you have no money because it's been stolen they tell you to phone someone at home and get the money transferred to them. It's easier to transfer money and use cards these days, but at that time it wasn't so easy. They seemed to go out of their way to make YOU feel like the criminal. The atmosphere in the place was oppressive and they didn't seem to have any idea of how to be sympathetic.

Hello all and thanks for your support! Went online to order a replacement passport and the Gov.uk website crashed after I had spent ages filling in the forms!!😫😫 Daughter who arrived yesterday and works in IT managed to complete it all this morning, which incidentally is warm and sunny!! I will receive an email with an appointment to collect it in Malaga. I am hoping for readers' sakes that this is the end of my lost passport posts!! Yesterday we had a day on the beach and after daughter arrived went to the Sky Bar and on to Ten Ten restaurant/bar near Windmill roundabout for eats. We described the food as "adequate" and doubt we will go back. Off to the beach today! Mare Nostrum for lunch. Chawky, thanks for the Uber info.
Regarding the building site, there is very little information! Take care everyone, Fond regards, BT.

Hi Rosebush, when I was there someone told me the plans had changed and the pool will be at ground level and that is why the pavement is blocked off during the works. I hope it doesn't cause CBs any issues by putting people off visiting.

Collected my one trip passport from the British Consulate on Monday! I asked my daughter if she'd like a look around Malaga and she just wanted to get back to Benal!! We've had a strange holiday I suppose! On Monday I came down with a shocking cold and wasn't very sociable at all! Even missed Mullarkeys! We have however had some relaxing beach days and lovely meals, including Saint Tropez, Mare Nostrum, Lucena and South Beach. Freak waves on the beach again today which sent people scurrying to rescue their belongings! Went to Fountain Square with daughter and she had never been. She loved it! Walk down the hill for a stop at Potters and were told that the building work next to CB's is going to last for at least 18 months. I'm not surprised as there were three men on the site clearing rubble by hand............ Daughter flies home tomorrow and I will miss her madly! New hot water tank has had to take a back seat due to the other dramas taking place!!!! Fond regards to all from beautiful Benal! BT

Hi BT so pleased you have a travel passport in your hands, hopefully you will enjoy rest of your stay now much better, sad to read your daughter leaving today but sounds like she has had a good time Hope sun keeps shining there although have read rain is due, maybe it will pass over Benal odd to hear about the sudden large waves that catch folks out, i don't do the beach other than take the odd stroll along it, but feel i would sit way back from edge of sea I feel sorry for CB's and OK if building works is to last that long next to them, it will effect their trade with noise and dust, bet the noise may travel as far as Potters as well we are bring ear plugs to wear for any days we stay in Chawky if pool at ground level would suit us less noise from above, wonder if it will be indoor pool, as garden will be gone due to the building, what is worrying home owners nearby is talk of under ground car parking not sure that little street would take all the digging out! Enjoy your day everyone, we have sunshine again in West Mids, hope it lasts, hate blooming Winter weather! xx

The weather has been good, even when rain is forecast! Sat on the beach the other day and after a few spots of rain Jose decided to close the beach for the day. Guess what.....sun came out for the rest of the day! Nice opportunity to go to Fountain Square, a bit of shopping and a refreshment stop at Potters on the way down the hill! Today (Friday) is cloudy and humid with rain forecast again but I am using the day as a housework day!
Dear friends arrived yesterday evening so we all had a snack in Bonanza Square and went to Bonanza Bar to see the Revival band.
Back to Essex on Sunday and devote Monday to try to sort out a new passport! Like Rosebush, I am not a fan of winter weather so hoping for some good (gardening!) days.
Fond regards to all, BT.
