We got up at some ungodly hour yesterday morning to be picked up at 4am by my brother and his wife and whisked off to the airport.
Flight was 30 minutes ahead of schedule but OMG the queues for passport control were unreal. It took 55 minutes to get through although I've heard of people having to wait longer. Anyway taxi to our apartment, unpack, quick change and a bus into Arroyo and off to Plaza de la Tribuna for drinks and lunch. Then a walk through Arroyo and pitstop at Moncloa, in Bonanza. On down to the coast and South Beach for some snacks and of course more drinks. Finishing up in Buddy's bar before crawling in to a taxi home around 1am. Don't know how we managed to survive that long 🤣.
I was up early this morning and had all the weeding done, plants trimmed ( not butchered ) and shopping in before anyone else surfaced.
A late breakfast was followed by a pleasant stroll around the Stupa and Benalmádena Pueblo stopping at Bar Copenhague ( Meson Pepe ) for a beer and some tapas.
A quick swim in the late afternoon to keep myself awake and now getting ready for dinner with friends at La Terraza. Totally wrecked already and this is supposed to be a relaxing break after a very busy few months at home 🤔
Hope you have a safe journey home bt.

Enjoy your trip Robert. I look forward to your report. My trip has been postponed. Yesterday Mrs C started to feel unwell, so this morning we decided not to travel. I'm sure by this time next week we'll be able to sort something out. In addition we had tickets for the theatre last night (Rock of Ages musical) so she missed that as well. Robert - Keep hold of the sun until we get there!

Sorry to hear your trip is cancelled Chawky. I hope it's not too serious and that you can get back over soon.
La Terraza was as good as ever and we called into to the sky bar for a nightcap afterwards.
Today started with a cooked breakfast before getting the train to Plaza Mayor where we spent far too long 🤣. The new part is really nicely finished but I often wondered will there be enough business for all those shops. We got the train back to Torremolinos and walked down the steps and back to the Marina. We ended up in Lillie Langtrys for dinner. We'd never been to it before even though it seems to be very popular. The food was excellent as we're the hosts. Home early this evening as we're off to Malaga in the morning.

The train drivers were on strike on Thursday so as my wife had a dental appointment in Malaga at 10am, rather than risk getting stuck at the station in Arroyo, I left her down to the coast where she caught a M110 bus to the city. The rest of the party got a bus into Arroyo and then a train to Malaga at 10.30 when that part of the strike was over. Met my wife at Malaga Central and went to check into our hotel ( Don Curro ) which was just at the start of Calle Larios. Then we hit the food market and a lunch of various fish tapas and wine before walking to the Malaga car museum.
My brother likes his cars so he was happy to spend a while there before getting a taxi back to our hotel and a rest before dinner.
After a short rest and a change of clothes we went around the corner to the hotel Molina and went up to their roof terrace for a pre dinner drink. It's small with a plunge pool ( guests only) but it has great views over the city and towards the cathedral. After a drink there ( believe me you'd only stay for one 😂) we went to the Italian pizzeria in the small square facing the cathedral for dinner. After that there was a little bit of pub hopping as we made our back to our hotel. The city was packed and they were just starting to put up the Christmas lights.
Friday started with breakfast in a Street cafe before getting the train back to Arroyo. The afternoon was spent chilling around the pool with lunch on the terrace.
We have no plans for this evening so who knows what we'll get up to 😂

Fri Evening we went into Arroyo with no plans. Stopped off for a drink whilst debating where to go. Tried Cafe Marcos but it was closed to ended up in Oliver's in Mezquita Square then ARC in Pueblosol before heading home. Saturday saw us drive to Mijas Pueblo for a walk around. Took a while to get parked as it was quite busy. First stop was coffee then a tour on the Tuk Tuk which was excellent value at €6 each. It covered both parts of the village and although most of the churches and monuments were still closed due to Covid it was well worth the money we paid. Then another coffee followed by a look around the shops.
King of Curries for dinner and then a walk to Bar De Los Motos on Av Tivoli. They have live music most weekends and the place was packed. We got a seat right at the back and tried to social distance as much as possible. We left after midnight when the music finished but the place was still full of a mixture of bikers and young Spanish families, including children. The atmosphere was brilliant and it was great to see everyone enjoying themselves almost the way things used to be.

Thanks so much for your entertaining posts Robert!! You always seem to pack so much into your Benalmadena holidays......makes me feel a bit idle! We have heard about Bar De Los Motos but have never been, which is a bit bizarre taking our love of live music into consideration! And your Tuk Tuk tour sounds good too. Haven't been to the Pueblo since 2019 so must make the effort next time. Some lovely restaurants up there. Continue with your excellent posts!
Missing Benal! Greetings from grey and somewhat chilly Essex (but no rain yet). Rosebush sent a forecast indicating an Indian summer but I think it's stuck somewhere between India and Doha! Fond regards to all, BT.

Robert don't know how you pack so much into one day hope your good lady wife is fine after dental visit, and you enjoyed your stay in Malaga, we love it there and just wander around for hours getting lost in the back streets, the views from Molina are fantasic, but a tad expensive on the drinks side its been 2 yrs since we were in there, so expect prices are much higher now.. I did read the train strike is over, just need them to sort out more staff at the airport now. !! B.T hope you have sunshine today, its lovely in West Mids at the moment, we did wait for the sun Thurs/Friday but it was hiding.. Will you post if you have done new passport request, we have to apply next month, as now it's not by expiry date but issue date, hubby mentioned to do online we need a code from photographs we get taken, so need to check out the booths that do them.. Take Care..xx

Hi Rosebush!
We had our photos taken at Snappy Snaps, 4 hard copies and a code to include on your application form to be used within 4 weeks of the photo being taken. I was so relieved to find mine in my wallet when I lost my passport in Malaga.....it made things a little easier! I would advise you to do it as soon as you can. The British Consulate (horrible!) person told me that passports are taking up to ten weeks to process and return and that a lost passport may take even longer. We had flights booked for early November which we have had to change due to the uncertainty surrounding our passports.
On a lighter note, the on-line application form for a passport is easier to complete than a Spanish Health Form or Passenger Locator Form!!! I will let the Forum know when we get our passports back and length of time it takes.
Sun came out at 3pm!!! Fond regards, BT.
PS Forgot to mention that Supersol supermarkets have been taken over by Carrefour. Hope they keep the decent wines Supersol sold!!!!

B.T thanks for passport info, bet now you have moved your flights your passport comes through quickly we will get pic's done soon as i feel better, got this Viral chest infection that's making the rounds, have done 2 Covid tests just to make sure its not that, and the testing sticks have made my throat worse, horrible blooming things!! Nice to know the online passport request is easy, I'm not very good with I.T stuff so leave it to Hubby Shame Supersol has gone we used the one in Arroyo most weeks, and the one on main road if we were passing.. I did spot a new store across from Eagle bar in someone's pic's, its next to SuperCaro, did you happen to see it on your walks, just wondered what its selling Take Care..x

We toyed with the idea of having a proper Sunday lunch but couldn't make our minds up as to exactly where we would go. Decided on C Bs so gave them a ring only to be disappointed as it was full. The next plan was to walk down to the coast and just stop off somewhere so off we went down what we call the back road and stopped at the Meeting House for coffee. Then along the front and up to Bonanza Square where we though there's likely to be more choice. By the time we got there everyone was famished so we went into the first place which was Fados. It was busy and they had plenty of staff but they looked totally stressed from start to finish. We had to ask for drinks, menus and then again if they could take a food order.Dinner took well over an hour and a half and was disappointing. We won't be rushing back but will probably give it another try at some point as it gets good reviews and everyone has an off day. From there it was downhill again and on to Wetherspains where they had a DJ playing and a good crowd in. Then on to Bar Ole for a cocktail before ending up in Buddy's to finish the evening.
Monday was cleaning day apparently ( no one told me 🤣). So brother and wife were dispatched to the coast to do their own thing whilst we opened the Chinese laundry and washed, scrubbed, cleaned and did a few odd jobs around the apartment. We did have to pop out to get a few things so used that excuse to stop for coffee and tapas before starting the second shift. We caught the bus to Arroyo in the evening and met up with the others. Stopped in Cafe Marco for beer and coffee. It was the first time I'd seen him open but as soon as we sat down he started packing away his tables and chairs so it must be a day time only place. It looks to be a bit of a change for Marco as it seems to be mostly coffees and pastries on sale which is totally different from his last place. I just wonder if there's enough business for that through the winter months. The evening finished with dinner and Cocktails in Lulu's near Burger King in Arroyo. Arroyo was extremely busy last night with most restaurants packed, possibly because today is a holiday but it was good to see and there was a bit of a buzz about the town. There's also a new fish restaurant opened between the church and the station on the same side as the church. It was there in July but we haven't tried it yet however it has always been quite busy when we pass.
Time for coffee and breakfast.

Another busy 2 days for you Robert shame you didn't get a good Sunday roast at Fado's I did see on F.B Lilly Langtry's have good reviews and Coco's, also Halfway Inn, Ibensa Sq, that's were we had our last roast 2 yrs ago, as my friend needed G.F gravy.. we just normally do a tapas trail with a few vino's
Is Lulu's the old Rima place?
Nice to hear there was a buzz around Benal, shame its not like it was 10yrs ago, but its still our favourite place on the CDS..
Did Marco's cafe show any opening times, it appears its somewhere between 10am-12noon, not good if he doesn't keep to set timings, feel the profit is in food these days, but I'm happy to have a few coffee & pastries while chatting as I am a full meal..
Hope next time you are put on cleaning duties you get prior warning..
Enjoy the rest of your stay..xx

Tues saw us take a drive to Marbella. We got parked easily enough near the centre of town and headed for the beachfront. There were plenty of people about although not too many British/ Irish voices could be heard. Lots of looky looky men ( and women ) on the promenade. We had a walk around the harbour area then stopped for a drink. My brother however thinks he has to eat every time we stop so we were there a little longer than planned whilst he devoured a plate of Boquerones en vinagre. Then we wandered up to the "old town" and around Orange Tree Square which was packed solid as we're all the bars in the narrow streets extending from the square. Lots of noise of Spanish people shouting at each other over a glass of vino leading to a great atmosphere. We stopped off for a drink ( just crisps this time 🤣)before heading home. We dined in El Campo that evening with friends. Beautiful food and large steaks which kept Brother happy.
Wednesday was a surprise trip to El Chorro. I say surprise as my brother and his wife though they were going to Gibraltar. They didn't twig until we got to the start of the Caminito del Rey walk. ( How thick are they 🤣🤣🤣). Two and a half hours later they were exhausted but had enough impressive photographs to make the pain of having to walk for 7 Kms almost bearable. So they went home contented but a little peeved that they hadn't seen any apes all day.🤣. Back to Benalmádena, quick change and freshen up then back into Arroyo for dinner. I guess now we'll have to try and fit Gibraltar in before we go home.😭
