It started 37 years ago when the villagers lined up and a wild turkey was released. The
Competitors gave chase and the winner was the first person to catch the turkey. The turkey was the prize.
Nowadays that would be considered cruel so they have a proper race or several races as there are different categories
Each competitor provides 2kg of non perishable food as an entry fee. This is all collected together and given to the needy in time for Christmas.
It is one of the most popular local sporting events.
