Just a little something I did for Facebook which some of our newer members may be interested in.
The most magical night in Spain is fast approaching. The 5th Jan, when Los Tres Reyes or the Three Kings come to visit. But who where they ?
Los Tres Reyes were the three Wiseman who came to visit baby Jesus.
The children's favourite is Balthazar, King of Arabia. Balthazar is Black and wears a purple cloak. He brought the gift of Myrrh to Jesus which is a symbol of death.
Gaspar ( or Caspar) is the King of India. He wears a green cloak and he presented Jesus with the gift of Frankensense which is a symbol of deity.
Melchor is the King of Persia. He wears a Gold cloak and he brought the gift of Gold which is a symbol of Kingship of the earth.
Over the next few days the King's envoy will come to visit Benalmádena. He will set up camp and the children will come to see him and give him their letters to take back to their favourite King.
On the 5th Jan the Kings will all arrive in town and after a reception by the local dignitaries they will take part in processions through both the Pueblo and Arroyo. After the procession the children will get an opportunity to meet their favourite King where they will receive a gift and have their picture taken ( similar to children meeting Papa Claus.) before saying goodbye to the Kings.
That evening before going to bed, children will leave their shoes out and if they have been good all year when they awake they will find that the Kings have paid their home a visit overnight and left them gifts. If they have not been good they will receive coal which is why you will usually see a float with miners and a truck full of coal during the processions.
Needless to say that there's not a lot of coal in Benalmádena. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Why not come and see the processions on the 5th Jan and see if you can spot the Kings. You now know their names and how to identify them.
Believe in the Magic of Los Tres Reyes.
This year their Majesties will arrive in the Marina on the 5th Jan at 11.30am. They will proceed to the Town hall via Garcia Lorca and Av de la Consticion where they will be a reception with Victor and Co.
The first procession will commence in the Pueblo at 4pm.
The Kings and floats will then make their way to Arroyo where the second procession will leave Tivoli car park at 7pm. After parading through Arroyo it will end in Plaza de la Mezquita where the Kings will take their thrones and meet the children
