Arrived early sat 4th - a bit nippy but no need to worry as the weather did improve. Chaos at the ticket machines but found one that wasn't being used or so I thought - the misssus reckoned I pushed in!
Went to see Malaga lights first night with a meal at our current fave restaurant Lechuga - impressed with both.
Sunday was a walk to Torremolinos and back along the paseo - the sun out for most of the afternoon and no need to buy a woolly hat! Missed parades but plenty of camp kings (or queens) in Torremolinos - haha.
A few leisurely days followed by a day in Malaga and back to Lechuga for lunch. Both times Malaga was busy.
Used the bus to get to Fuengirola and stayed on the return bus to Torremolinos and walked back. I'm falling out with the train ticketing palaver.
I managed a couple of paddles in the sea on the nicer days.
A friend had a fall a couple of weeks ago and broke a hip so went to see him in hospital at Malaga - hoping he's out on our next trip - it's a long way to go from Benal.
Sadly returned back to the cold late Sunday 12th.
Special mention to the following bars for keeping us fed and watered; Bar 76, Halfway Inn, Bora Bora, Tandoori Grill and Potters Lodge.
PS I thought I saw a Northern Irish man rolling about Arroyo !!!

Sounds like a good week Chawky, and so pleased you didn't need a woolly hat was hoping chaos at ticket machines would be solved by now, but for all first users not getting info before going, it must seem like a palavar, I am really hoping after taking on board all the info I have read I get it right first go but doubt it .
We love to walk from windmills along paseo into Torre, love the fact we can stop for tapas & coffee at lots of chringuito's, its the San Mig steps that prove a problem, sometimes I make it other times I use the lift
We have been in Lechuga a few times, also use Las Papas, plus any other bar that seems lively, we love the buzz around the plaza, in March leaving the castle area we walked through the tunnels to get there, never again the traffic noise was horrendous
Hope your friend is fully recovered on your next visit..x

I take it the lift is working again Rosebush. We've never managed to find them, either at the top or bottom. My wife would find them useful as she can't manage the steps.

F.F you have to climb the first few steps, then to your right you will see some apts with four steps leading up to them, take these steps, turn left for the lift.. think around 2pm the lift man takes a break ( or whenever he needs the loo, coffee etc) so its not in use... so I have to use the steps, but do it slowly 'or' much quicker just to get up there! its 50c pp but well worth it, hope you find it next visit, I could take pic's to show where lift is but don't know how to post off my mobile or off the pc, I did have a go from my pc, but message was 'pic to big' I am not I.T savvy so don't know how to shrink etc..oh to be young again and have a working brain!! xx

Thanks Rosebush, I used Google street view to find how to get the lift back up. I also used it to find how to get the lift down (left at Bodega Guerola on Calle Mercedes). We'll walk down the steps after first checking that the lift is running.
