Hi I don’t know if this is the right place but here goes! We used to have a place in Turkey and in 2015 drove the round trip- through Eastern Europe(14 days) and back through Western Europe(12 days) as a holiday which proved to be the trip of a lifetime! Now having a place in benalmadena we would like to do something similar though obviously not as long. We have a car in Spain so thought we would fly out and drive back through Portugal then come back through France later. Has anyone done anything similar and have any suggestions?

mags, welcome to the Forum and I am confident that you will receive replies with good info! The Forum in the past has been so helpful to many folk. Most people I know who drive over travel through Spain to the North, either Santander or Bilbao to get the ferry to the South of England. Bilbao worth a couple of days overnight by the way!! Good luck and kind regards, BT.

Hi Mags and welcome.
Maybe I have misunderstood what you are planning to do but I' d check the legalities of driving a Spanish registered car in the UK on a UK licence. ( if that's the case). I don't think it's allowed at all or if it is it will only be for a short period of time ie a few weeks.

Thanks Robert- I had not thought about that! Apparently driving a foreign registered car in the UK is dependent on being a resident in the country the car is registered! A rethink is in order!!
