Thanks for the concern Rosebush. We are all OK thanks. We saw the lock down coming so we were busy in work this last two weeks preparing. We have closed now and as I'm self employed I have no income. Luckily my wife works in Tesco and we have savings so hopefully we will be OK for a few months. Hopefully Boris will announce some help for the self employed soon. We've obviously cancelled our trip to Benalmadena at the weekend but hopefully will get a refund on the flights. We have our summer trip booked in July but I fear that may also not happen. Glad to hear you're surviving in Spain RB. Good to hear from you Norman and glad to hear both you and Mary are OK and being looked after. BT I hope seeing your mum wasn't too painful and that the trip there and back was uneventful. Our street started a Wats App group so we could help each other out and keep an eye on the elderly during the crisis. The local newspaper heard about it and now we're famous 😂🤣😂. www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/northern-ireland/neighbours-in-newtownards-overcoming-isolation-with-online-chat-group-39056571.htmlI was also under orders from my better half to get some work in the garden finished before lockdown. 🤣. The scary bit is the unknown. No one can tell us how long it will last or how bad it's going to get and it's no comfort watching what's happening in Italy and Spain. Some people here don't think Boris has gone far enough whilst others openly flout the supposed lock down. We haven't got enough police to enforce it and the army going onto the streets in certain areas could make things worse. I guess we'll all have to play our part over the next few months and hope for the best. Stay safe everyone.

Robert, it must be good to be missed. We arrived back in the UK about 12 days ago and put ourselves in lockdown before the government acted as we were concerned about flying home in recycled air. We are both fine although Mrs N developed a bit of a bug which fortunately has not developed into anything else.
I used to go out to the pub for a drink 4 times a week and never drank at home but now I have a drink at home on the nights I used to go out. Psychologically that seems to help cope with being in the house with no live sport to watch.
Fortunately, although we live only 10 miles from Manchester we are in semi rural area which has lots of quiet country roads and lanes that are good for walking. I’m pleased that the government is still allowing us to exercise, I have one issue that I have to tackle. I have been a volunteer receptionist at my local hospice for the last 10 years and whilst I cancelled my shifts during our self imposed lockdown I now have to decide if I should go back next week.
Keep safe everyone.

Glad you got home safe Neil. There are still some people trying to get home. My wife's friend is in Thailand and has decided that it's safer to stay put at the minute. rather than travel home.
I haven't had a drink since we came back from Spain in Jan but I might have to start again now 🤣😂🤣.
You have a difficult decision to make regarding your volunteering work. I wish you well whatever you decide.

Me again! So pleased to read posts from Robert, Rosebush, Neil and Fiddlefingers! Neil....what does the Hospice hope for from you??? Clearly you must decide for yourself but without volunteers like you at this horrible time we would all be in an even worse situation. My to-do list gets longer, including plenty in the garden like you Robert! A friend of our daughter spoke to his parents who live in a remote region in Pembrokeshire. His Dad said he was missing the garden!!! Nearest neighbours are 2 miles away!! And Boris hadn't said you can go into the garden!!! Our son-in-law is self-employed and also worried about feeding the family....bank of Mum and Dad on stand-by! Rosebush, you brought a lump to my throat when you described the Police activity the other evening. I don't blame you for staying put in Benal. I certainly would feel safer there than travelling back to the UK. Saw my Mum yesterday! The home opened some double doors for us to talk to her from a distance of 3 metres. 'Twas very emotional as you can probably imagine. So glad we didn't delay our journey as the NHS had arranged her discharge for today (Thursday) without telling her or her family or the Care Home! So she's now self-funding but has company, is extremely well cared for and the staff love her! In the UK don't forget to stand outside or at an open window at 8pm (Thurs)to clap for our NHS. Keep safe and well my Benal friends. BT.

Robert, I read the article in the Belfast Telegraph........great work you are all doing. Our daughter is still doing voluntary stuff like picking up prescriptions but she arrives home fuming about the idiots who don't keep a 2 metre distance away and people spitting onto the pavement.........we have a bowl of diluted bleach in the porch for her to dip her boots into after every outing. (Read about that in Sur in English by the way.) And how's the garden???!!! Kind regards to all, Keep even safer, BT.

Hi All, hope everyone is keeping safe, and very well done to all helpers/volunteers, without you some folks would not survive.
B.T it would appear some folks still don't understand how serious things are, the distance thing needs to be observed, as for spitting words fail me..
We have just had our 8pm clapping on balcony for all front line workers, and pray that for all countries this virus finds its peak and flattens out..
All shops here have full shelves and all shoppers being sensible, masks, gloves, distance markers etc all being observed..
Family tell me UK stores not providing gloves and not many folks wearing masks, we know masks only give so much protection, but we feel safer wearing them..
B.T hope your dear Mom continues to stay well..x
I have had to stop watching Sky News to upsetting xx
Take Care Stay Safe..xxx

Lock down extended until 26th April. I think the same thing will happen in the UK. But it needs to be a proper lock down like Spain.

Agreed Robert. Yesterday Police had to break up a "rave" in a local park near us...............madness. Our main shopping centre (Romford) is reportedly mobbed today. What is wrong with these people??? Take care folks. BT.

Apologies. I've been a little premature. The extention will not be confirmed until Tuesday but it looks like a foregone conclusion.
There are also rumours that some of the self employed will be allowed to go back to work to try and help the economy. Not sure how that will work. 🤔
