Sounds like we are under house arrest from 8am on Monday for 15days, more if needed, can only be on public roads if we are going shopping or for medical reasons, or work..Got this info off a link on trip advisor but have heard nothing on Sky News yet, so hope the translation is correct, my Spanish is rubbish.
Never been through anything like this before so bit scary, just cannot understand how this is spreading so quickly..xx
B.T shame you will miss your visit next week..xx

Oh Rosebush.....it sounds horrible and I think I would find it scary too. This is unprecedented and no-one fully understands the virus, or how it can spread so quickly. Italy and Spain have been hit very badly and the people are very tactile, lots of hugging and kissing. Despite advice against this sort of stuff, people are still being "touchy-feely" (as my husband would describe them) especially in airports when saying Hello or Goodbye. I hope you can keep your chin up and not be too bored. Have you stocked up with wine??🥂
We are due to fly out with easyJet and still had no notification. We will miss our visit but I think I'd rather be here! I remember at the beginning of the Corona Virus thread saying that we will "definitely" be going to Benal............... I'll be thinking of you. Keep us all informed please. Fond regards, BT.

We have just been out to dinner with friends for a birthday celebration, restaurant full but not many people out in bars, all Chinese restaurants & stores closed today, from Monday we can venture out but only to supermarkets, bakeries, butchers, and green grocers, so a walk up to Merc each day will be on the cards, we have throat sprays & hand gels, plus stopped kissing hugging greeting last week, so just going to ride out the storm for 2weeks, hopefully new cases will fall and the lock down will ease, just read news on my phone Malaga airport are proposing to close at midnight tonight, but not sure that's correct because Jet2 planes are coming over empty to pick passengers up, so Spain would do best to let them leave, so less folks around to spread the virus..
We have wine & water in stock, plus medicinal brandy although if folks stop panic buying everything should still be available in shops, but in the event of the virus 'getting worse' what I have in stock will last a week so we will not venture until cupboards are low..
Hope your dear Mom is okay, is the care home allowing you to call every few days to check on her.xx

Sounds as though you are doing everything you can to be prepared. Keep the Forum informed please! I'm able to phone my Mum every day on her mobile as she is quite lucid, or, as she would say, still has her marbles! Thank you for asking. Keep well, BT.

Take care of yourself out there. Being confined to your house is going to be hard, be sure to try and get the fresh air when you can - not sure whereabouts you are but a walk to the supermarket sounds like a good idea!
Stay safe Nick

So pleased you are continuing with your posts Rosebush! The shops are still manic here and people are just ignoring pleas to be less selfish. Our local Aldi is allowing only 5 people in the store at a time so one can imagine the queues. We are just making do with what we have in the freezer and cupboards. I think we are fast approaching lock down after the announcement that so many places are to close indefinitely. Eldest daughter continues to voluntarily help older folk and other vulnerable people but she is wondering how long she will be able to continue. Carry on exercising on the balcony! At least we have loads of open spaces where we can walk without meeting another soul! Take care and stay safe. Fond regards, BT.

How are you Rosebush? Some people in the UK remain very complacent about self isolation and social distancing. At the weekend parks were mobbed and you may have seen the number of visitors to Snowdonia.....a record number. They are not learning from the experience of Spain and Italy. Keep safe and well. And in touch if you can. BT. X

Hi B.T
We were so shocked to see on news folks out & about looked like a bank holiday!!
UK really need to get into gear very quickly, have to admit I still cannot get into my head how quickly this virus spreads and how its now world wide
Boris is giving UK a chance to act sensibly so why are folks ignoring it!! now he should go for lockdown!!!!
Feel Spain acted quickly to the virus, so quickly in fact that within hours of the speech from Sanchez the lockdown was in force!
I am so proud of how folks here all are taking this seriously, its like a ghost town everywhere, even when I have to go to supermarket for fresh goods I see maybe about 8 shoppers, we have masks, all adhere to floor markers for distance, and put on gloves as we enter store, dispose of them in boxes before we leave..
Hope you have enough food in fridge and cupboards to see you through for a while, although stores may calm down for a day or two, they will be manic again when lockdown hits..
Feel so sorry for old folk who cannot cope with being pushed around in packed stores, so hope any measures to help them ie early morning shopping hours are upheld by store managers or even security guards!!! I still blame panic buying on Stores, they should have had notices up stating only so many of any one item allowed, pre planned security guards so they were there on hand before doors opened, that would have stopped it from the off, so shoppers would have to adhere to restrictions, but feel stores were just greedy and wanted their tills over flowing!! phew rant over
Current weather is wet and sky dark, and forecast is rain for next 9 days with sunny spells, best days Thur-Sat, but hubby and I are very well, our daily exercise is ….
taking lift down to ground floor and walking up 4 flights of steps back to apt..twice daily...have to keep the old bones mobile..
All we miss is our long walks..
We did see news this morning (hoping its true) that for last 2 days in Spain the number of new virus cases has fallen, peak is expected before end of week..so after a further 2 weeks of lockdown we may see restrictions lifted, even if its just for exercise...although we are hoping slight lifting by end of week 3
Hoping if Robert pops in he may let us know how things are in Ireland....
Take Care and Stay safe..xx

The UK is definitely steps behind other countries. And I agree with you wholeheartedly about the greedy supermarkets who have been so slow to social distance customers and offer special opening times for NHS workers and older folk. I pop into the local corner shop (quickly!) which has plenty. Our UK news regarding Spain is that the death toll continues to rise alarmingly and can only hope that the number of new cases does slow down. Keep up with the exercising Rosebush! We've got the exercise bike out of the garage but I am doing so much spring cleaning I'm exhausted by 4 pm! My husband has adapted very well to social isolation...........he now does nothing at all!!! Hoping that other Forum members keep in touch and share their experiences. We can't share our usual travelogues unfortunately but we can support, via technology, Rosebush and others who are in Benal. Fond regards to all my precious Forum friends.Keep safe and well, BT.

Norman and Mary....great to see you on the forum, despite the circumstances we all find ourselves in.So good to know that you have plenty of support and meds and food getting to you. We have good weather here in Essex too...............seems crazy to look at the web cams in Fuengirola and Los Boliches and see not a soul on the street and rain to make the mood even bleaker. At least I can go into my garden and watch the birds from the window! Hoping not to get arrested today as I literally MUST drive 75 miles to my Mum's Care Home to sign a contract or they will send her home!!! Gloves and face covering all packed! I'm hoping to see her through a window but I know we'll both get upset..............I'd rather see her than not however. Just realised I'm going on a bit!!😄 Keep safe and well Benal friends. BT. X

Hi from Benal...Norman great to hear you and Mary are well, and have a support network helping with any needs, also that your medicaion is delivered to your door
B.T did you get to see your Mom, can imagine how upsetting this is for you not being able to give her a hug, but hope she is well..
Not been out for 6days, but today i did go to Mas, which is about a 5min walk felt like the end of the world had happened only saw 1 person as he left the pharmacy and only saw 6 people in store, all safety measures adhered to, i had a mask and Mas now have gloves, plus distance markers on floor, got fresh meat, bread, fruit & veg, they even have hand gel/sanitisers and lots of loo rolls! Hubby went to Merc on Monday even stricter measures there, you only get a basket now no trolleys, so no panic buying, although that has not happened since the start of the lockdown, feel supermarkets thought it may when lock down was extented, but all very orderly..
Each night at 8pm everyone goes out onto their balconies music is playing, and everyone sings/claps as a thankyou to all emergency staff, last night no music but police cars driving slowly up the street horns sounding and lights flashing as a thankyou to us..quite emotional you needed to be here to feel it..
Hope UK gets into gear very soon, and folks realise this is serious and stop all the stupidity, of social gathering and picnics in the park!!!
Our Son wants us to return to UK but to be honest we feel safer here, as UK are not at present taking this seriously!!
I am worried that Robert has not been on site for days, hope all is well with him and his family..xxxx
