WHAT? That is unbelievable. Bet the Minister of Finance doesn't visit them all personally. For once I am speechless................ my husband is pleased! Not fake news is it Robert? The Forum has been very quiet and I miss you all!! Rosebush, I hope you and your husband are keeping well. I've been looking at the web cams and a few weeks ago you thought the weather had also gone into lock-down. I think you are right!I still cannot get over watching the web cams and seeing no-one on the beach or on the streets. Saw a fishing boat go into Fuengirola port today! Great excitement!! Keeping fingers crossed for a speedy recovery for our PM. Take care and keep safe folks. Fond regards, BT.

Hi B.T we too check the cams, just to see anyone out walking their dog, I only go out once a week to shop, and its only then you realise more just what isolation means, for just 20mins all seems as normal...but isolation is saving lives, and we are staying safe as well...wish UK would impose tougher rules, not sure when we will get back to UK, so hope the idiots start to play ball soon and its a safer place to return too..
We are saddened about so much loss of life all around us, and pray that this virus ends soon, I still cannot comprehend how this virus spread so fast, when we came to Benal the news was 'China trying to cope with a virus outbreak' next thing the whole world shuts down in 3 weeks! not sure I believe all of what we have been told about its origin, and guess in my lifetime I never will..just want us to overcome all the sadness..
Cannot wait until this site is full of Benal news, beaches , bars, tapas, walks along the paseo..Stay safe..xx

Taken from El Pais online
Life in Spain will slowly begin to return to normal after the state of alarm, introduced three weeks ago to slow the coronavirus outbreak, comes to an end on April 26. That’s according to Finance Minister and government spokesperson María Jesús Montero.
Speaking on Spanish TV channel Antena 3 on Wednesday, Montero said that Spain would slowly return to “normal life” but in progressive stages, following the recommendations of health experts in order to avoid a second wave of coronavirus infections.
We can’t take anything for granted right now, only that the extension of the state of alarm will last until April 26,” she said. “From that moment on, the relaxation [of the confinement orders] will happen progressively so that citizens can begin, in an orderly fashion, to return to normal life, to the streets, to the public squares.” The minister added that the lifting of the lockdown rules must be well planned and organized “so that there are no [new] peaks and infections.”
Montero said the government is working on “different scenarios” on how the confinement measures could be eased, but refused to go into further details until “the experts decide” on how to proceed. According to the minister, more information on the spread of the outbreak is still needed before any decision can be made.
Spaniards have been confined to their homes since March 14, when the government implemented a state of alarm in a bid to control the coronavirus crisis. All public-facing businesses have been closed since then, while border controls have been restricting the movement of people
Taxes In the interview, Montero added that the government’s “strict” definition of what constitutes a coronavirus victim was responsible for the gap between the Health Ministry’s official figures on coronavirus deaths and the death records at civil registries across Spain.
Montero also explained that the government does not plan to suspend tax payments because it needs funds to continue to support citizens who receive unemployment benefits and other social aid. In March, the government approved measures to help businesses and self-employed workers with cash-flow problems, and introduced a six-month moratorium on the payment of several taxes, including income tax (IRPF), corporate tax and value-added tax (VAT). The minister said that the government was considering the possibility of extending the payment deadline of other taxes.

Thanks Robert. Go on to El Pais every day, and Der Speigel and..................... There seems to be no let-up in the reported new cases and reported deaths in Spain. Rosebush and Husband...stay safe and keep cheerful if you can. I don't think anyone can believe how quickly and deadly this virus has spread. It's bad in the UK but not compared to Spain, yet. And I'm sure that in the not too distant future we WILL be writing about our walks along the Paseo, talking about our favourite restaurants and bars and excursions outside the resort! I have heard from Gintare (Amber) and Ivan from the original Panorama bar on the Paseo and they are fine. I've been looking at my lovely photos taken in Cordoba at the Patios in Bloom competition. Seems a million miles away. Stay safe everyone. Fondest regards, BT.

Hi Folks, We are all hoping that the flatten of the curve continues, and Spain does not get a sudden peak again like last week, however reports on lots of 'Benal' social media sites of vacant apts suddenly not vacant any more!!! and somehow folks have arrived at their holiday homes, heaven knows what for nothing here for them at the moment, it appears this is happening at a lot more coastal towns around Spain, so with movement could we see a peak again, we hope not :-((
We have fingers crossed for ease of restrictions from April 26th, even for exercise will do us at the moment, not sure its safe yet for business such as bars, cafes, restaurant etc, personally I would not enter any, maybe in a month, I would feel safer using a bar 'terrace' but still with distance of tables, this virus has really changed my mind set, and think it will be quite some time before I feel a new normal..
However we would like to put some euro's into the tills of our favourite bars before we leave, looks like that may be months away yet, as our flights for June 3rd have been cancelled, and we are awaiting option of flights from Jet2, they want to fly again from June 17th, but doubt Spain will allow any tourist in for quite a few months...x

Message for Rosebush! Hi there Rosebush and your husband! I'm not aware of any other Forum members in lock-down in Benal. How are you doing? I've been on to the webcams and see you have a cloudy sky and the sea is rough with a forecast for storms. Take extra care when you venture out! We have sunshine and clear skies in Essex so it's a BBQ this evening after we have clapped for the NHS and Care Home staff. It would appear that our lock-down could be extended for another 3 weeks, but most sensible people would prefer that to lifting it prematurely. We still have our Covidiots in the UK and I think Essex has more than most! In our local park a party was held and the revellers left behind at least 7 empty bottles of Tequila amongst other empty bottles. If they don't die with Covid-19 they risk dying of alcohol poisoning! That reminds me! Can you still get your wine and brandy???!!! Our local supermarket tried to prevent me buying more than three bottles of wine on my weekly shop as it wasn't deemed "essential". To me it certainly is!!!! I won! Enjoying our garden! Robins and blue tits are nesting outside our conservatory but they are Covid considerate and are at least 6 feet away from the door! Well that's my latest ramble! Do keep in touch with us all Rosebush. Take care. Fond regards to all, BT😘😘😘😘

This is how I get my exercise during lockdown. Now you can see why I missed coming to Benal at Easter, less slave labour for my wife I'm not sure the photo is big enough, but there are 9 of me in the photo. I think if you click on the photo a larger version is displayed. Best wishes to everyone on the forum.

B.T & Robert such a shame you cannot make your planned visits
Its so sad seeing Benal as it is now, and we are saddened to the core to see this virus taking so many lives, and B.T so sorry to read about your Benal neighbour..
Here we are keeping to the rules and staying in other than a 5 min walk to the Mas for food shopping on a Friday, police car's driving round all day but not heard of anyone breaking the rules, all along the coastal roads folks posting pic's of police road blocks at traffic islands, stopping all cars to check why they are out?
We still go out onto our balconies at 8pm every night to clap and thank the Dr's, Nurses & health care workers, its only then we can see how many humans are around
B.T shocked at folks having parties, seems like some people still haven't got the message yet on how this horrible virus is spread... words fail me ..
We are still awaiting P.M statement on Tuesday re lock down rules, so hoping with caution we get exercise time..if not its back to 4 times per day walking around our roof terrace, 6 laps is 1000 steps
F.F love your pic, very clever also hubby was very impressed with your lawn stripes ! bet all that work has put you in your wife's good book
B.T we still have wine, cava, & brandy in stock, but not drinking much....wish I could say the same for cake & chocolate
So pleased your local shop saw sense and you won the wine battle..
Stay safe..xxxx

Hi all, Rosebush, good to hear from you and know that you are keeping sane!It sounds to me as though you are getting more exercise than I am!! We go for a short walk every day and I do a bit of gardening (not yet in Fiddlefingers league!) but I confess to becoming paranoid about Covidiots. They are everywhere and my poor little heart beats overtime when I'm anywhere near a shop! Fortunately I'm not a choccie and cake eater so the weight is okay (so far!) The BBQ is well used whilst the weather is good. Talking of weather..........I noticed that the storms which were forecast for last weekend did not materialise thank goodness. Robert, thanks for the post about Ruben's. I think I'll wait to see if the exchange rate gets better! Just received our Community Charge statement...............nearly fainted with the shock. I think my shock was compounded by the fact that we aren't getting to our apartment. It would be lovely to hear from other members. Perhaps a travelogue after you've been to the shop! Kind regards to all, keep safe. BT.

I forgot to ask! Have the swallows returned yet? Loved watching them swirling overhead and often thought they were going to swoop into our apartment complex! They never did. That is something else I miss about Benal! We only see swallows over the marshes here but it's out of bounds.😒🚷 BT.
