Glad you have made a booking Chawky. Which airline and airport please??? Our July flight with Easyjet from Southend has just been cancelled...........😢😢😢😢😭😭😭😭
Rosebush, thank you for keeping us all updated. I hope your husband gets to a dentist okay. Our garden and garage are drying out but water flowed in through the air bricks in our house. Although the house didn't get wet, it's damp underneath the floorboards and the house smells damp!! Hope the heatwave helps!! Take care everyone! Kind regards, BT.

I'm flying with EasyJet from Manchester and returning with them on 20th Aug. I booked last month figuring they'd be back on by then, but it has certainly opened quicker than I'd envisaged.

Chawky so pleased you have holiday planned, and B.T hope you are able to sort a flight as well..
Its really hot out here, not been here in June this late for quite a while, but it seems hotter than ever, maybe the lockdown has left clearer air for sun to get through :-))
The atmosphere has also changed SOE over and many more bum's on seats due know doubt to Ryanair flights over last few days, everyone happy to be here or 'still be here' more Spanish down from the hills so business's must have more €'s in their till, especially the supermarkets ..all packed today..
We have only walked to Merc (20mins) coffee stop at El Merqueno then to Supersol then Mas, then balcony..feet in ice water the waiter served me a nice shandy, so smile on face :-)) Sun blinds will be down until 8pm, then stroll out for dinner 9pm when its a bit cooler
Not sure if anyone used the bar John Lemmon, but as we came passed its changed hands now called The Gravy Boat, Sp bar next door also open, pittza place due to open soon, they are the only 3 bars on Bonanza Ave at the moment, everywhere else is up and running, and by next month hopefully with money in the tills they can survive..xx

Hi Rosebush, that’s great news, I’m really looking forward to Benalmadena I always feel totally relaxed when I’m there and by your updates I feel that it will all be up and running by the time I arrive. Take care and hope you manage to get a flight.

Thanks, Rosebush. Very encouraging news.
The John Lemmon was a Glasgow Celtic supporters’ bar. I hope the new owners aren’t Glasgow Rangers fans. I hope they do well but with a name like that they are going to need some luck.

Glad things are continuing to move forward.
At home we have had meeting with the DVSA and their response is that they will not tell us whether we can work or not but we must adhere to the guidelines, which because of social distancing, we can't do. Social distancing is being reduced to 1 mtr in schools but even that is too much in my role as an instructor. So we have to wait on directions from the " People on the hill" I guess we really need it gone althogether. It isn't being practiced in supermarkets and it won't be in bars when they open although signage is in place and intentions are good.
We missed a trip to Benalmádena in March so we are hoping to go in July. Flights have been booked from last year. We have mixed views but as we have a property there we really need to get over to check it and sort a few things out.
It seems everyone was well behaved last night for the San Juan celebrations. People carried out the traditional making of the Juas ( at home) and the local fire service collected them and they still had the burning at midnight. Obviously no fireworks and no ferias so the people that live near the top of the park will not have room to complain about the noise this year. 🤣😂🤣

That's very kind of you Ken, thank you. We have people looking after it for us so we know it's OK. We ordered a new sofa just before lockdown so we need to get that sorted and some legal stuff to do. Plus lots of cleaning ( especially now🤣) as we rent out and we have bookings to prepare for. Will still have time for a little bit of relaxation though and a catch up with friends. 🤣🤣🤣

Robert sorry to hear returning to work for you is not possible at the moment, as you say the distance measure needs to go, and folks use common sense, although seeing the beaches of Bournemouth last few days heaven help anyone there, could not believe the news reel pic's why put themselves in a situation like that..> The heat is on high at the moment and only rising upwards, not been here for about 8yrs in June and totally forgot how hot it gets, although cannot remember it being this hot before, maybe its an age thing Lots more open now, more folks on beaches especially Fri/Sat/Sun.. We left our little Spanish bar last night after midnight walked down side of Mas, and so much noise coming from Ibensa Sq, all terrace licences are until 2am, but found out Tange's bar was full of Spanish students who didn't leave until 3.45am, someone called police 2.45am who came and 'had a word' then left..! pleased I don't live near.. Ryan air flights are still arriving into Malaga airport, so hope lots of Benalites are on board, San Fermin hotel opened yesterday to what appears to be all Spanish guests, they had music around the pool which ended at 11pm so my neighbours told me this morning..phew!! Lots of complex pools are open now, ours not until Monday, but we only use the gardens, all sunbeds etc have to be disinfected before use at 9am and after use at 9pm..then pool is closed, sanitizers by entrance doors, so hopefully if this is happening everywhere ( which it appears to be) we shall all be fine B.T Cordabesa doing well during the evenings and the family who run it keeping to safety measures, we had lovely tapas meal down there in the week, more like a main for under €7 ..also Karen at Potters does wonderful snacks, also very filling and gold star presentation, must add both bar's within few minutes of our apt, which in this heat is very welcome.. We have order for takeaway from King of Curries at 8pm, not used them before, so hope we enjoy the food, I have part prepared jug of Sangria, so its just a quiet balcony evening, at present shade temps 34c...so lots of iced water before the Sangria.. Take Care..xx

Rosebush, many thanks yet again for your very welcome update. It does seem as though Benal is working to a new "normal". I only hope that when the Brits arrive they stick to the same rules as the Spanish. Let's face it, they don't stick to them in the UK. We were appalled at the behaviour of so many this week, not only at the beaches but in town centres at night. Our wonderful Police Services are having a hell of a time with illegal raves and street parties. I am in my 15th week (tomorrow!) of virtual lock-down and don't even visit my 88 year old Mum! I was a bit of a rebel last night however, as daughter ordered a carry-in curry and it was accompanied by white wine and the music of Status Quo!!! House party for three!! I'm delighted that you found Meson La Cordobesa is keeping to safety measures. They are such a nice family and IF we get to Benal on the 17th we'll book a table for the 18th!! Hope you are coping with the heat.............our mini heatwave is definitely over!!
Sorry you are not able to get back to work Robert. Sounds as though you will be busy when you get back to Benal!! Take care everyone, Fond regards to you all, BT.

Hi Folks
Well Benal is getting busy, roads full no car parking spaces to be found, Arroyo has great evening atmosphere, and very pleased to say, new arrivals are wearing their masks bars staying open longer in the evenings as its VERY hot and folks not going out until 9.30pm to eat or drink, we are struggling with the humidity on Thursday we had Terral winds started about 8.30pm, just like someone opened the oven door just couldn't breathe, so patio doors closed and aircon on, don't really like a/c but needed it for a while, the temps never dropped all through the night, so needed loads of coffee Friday morning to keep me awake..
The beach is busy from 10ish until sunset, a coding system starts soon called QR Code, you use phone to copy bar code, and it tells you how many on that part of beach, how long you can stay etc...not good with technology so don't know how it works..
Sorry to say, but LLM creeping back on paseo, don't know why Polica are allowing this to happen, the beach has so many restrictions for safety, but LLM are allowed to take over paseo with Covid still around and nowhere for them to wash their hands after using hedges as toilets!! I'm sure this will get worse by end of month, they are even doing the rounds of bars as well thankfully not in any we are using at present, which hasn't been many this week, due to the heat
B.T hope sense is prevailing near you, but some folks just don't get it!!
Jet2 flying again from 15th, but not booked yet, if humidity gets worse over next 2 days, we will use Ryanair on Wednesday, never used them before but will give them ago...
To all July/Aug Benalites don't know how you stand the heat..
Take Care.Stay Safe xx
