Hi Folks,
Well at long last we feel that Benal is open although not many folks around, everyone is in a happy phase, we have lots of bar's open now and restaurants, the beach is open, even saw a chringuito open yesterday, more shops open around town, going down to Paloma Park at 2pm to see if its open, if it is, hope the wildlife has survived.. its small slow steps, but they are all forward..
The new one way system is only from Sunset Beach to Windmill Island, looks like its going now further at the moment..
We may enter phase 3 on June 8th but even if its June 15th we will only be in this phase for a week, then SOE ends...we are looking forward to seeing what changes this brings, I'm sure there will be more Spanish coming down to the coast from inland towns, so more money for business's down here and they need it... hoping the distance measures are kept, they are still policing all of this....very evident along the paseo.
We are querying with needing room along paseo to keep 2mts apart will the lucky lucky men be moved on, normally they take up 50% of the walkway??
We are pleased we stayed in Benal throughout the crisis and felt really safe here, hoping UK heals itself soon, so you can all get to your holiday homes, hotels and enjoy all that you have missed..

Just to add Paloma Park was not open, and still closed today, had a peek through gates and all grass shrubs etc seem to have been maintained, no notice on gates of any due date to open .x

Thank you so much for your update Rosebush. Always good to read your posts. We are still self-isolating mainly because of the behaviour of others. Good point you made about the LLM! So pleased more places are opening. Next step the beach beds?? Keep well and thank you again. Fond regards to you and your husband. BT.

The park opens this morning with restrictions. Access is only from the gate at the junction on Garcia Lorca with the Gamonal. Must stay on the pathways and children's play areas are still closed. Bars and cafe should be open this week.

I've seen dozens of photos of the paseo without the looky looky men. It looks totally different and far nicer without them. Let's hope it stays that way? I've also wondered what will happen when they start to come into restaurants. There won't be any social distancing if they are trying to sell their wares. Have you seen any of them wandering around RB?

Robert thanks for posting Park was open..we had stroll around today, no guards on gate, not needed to today as only saw 12 people in an hour, called in Café Europa ( 6 customers in there) staff are very friendly, all area's spotless, sanitizers by both entry points.. Had lovely coffee-brandy, would have had another, but high winds and spots of rain had us heading back to apt, weather fine now (3pm) and sun breaking thorough we were hoping for a real downpour as it's so humid!!
All grass area's in park cordoned off, council workers cutting all hedges and tiding plants, the walkways could do with a good jet wash though, I did noticed the lack of chickens, saw maybe 10 ? lots of ducks on the lake, when Selwo gate entrance opens, the thatched bar will open, Europa loo's open to guests, and they have free wifi..
The decision to open the park is another sign of life returning to 'normal' just need more folks to know it open!
B.T shame you are having to stay in due to folks thinking the rules don't apply to them, this virus spreads from contact, so need to stop movement, no contact, virus dies away quicker, I know 90% of brits are doing good so the other selfish 10% have a lot to answer for !!
Alison the first LLM we saw was yesterday in Plaza Tribuna, he was sat with a couple trying to sell them watches, don't know where they all disappeared too? just hope they are moved on from the paseo if they start to set up there, as all the paseo will be needed to keep 2mt distance, more so after June 21s, when lots of Spanish no doubt will come down to the coast..its a great time now to stop their trade and give shop owners a chance to earn some money again! xx

I think one of the new rules when using the beach is that it is illegal to buy from thd Street vendors ie lookey lookey men and fines will be applied, so I'd imagine that they won't be allowed access to the beach at all. No mention was made about the Paseo so we will have to wait and see.

Robert would be great if they banned them from the beach, at least sunbathers will get some peaceful time, as we strolled along the paseo last week, if 2 folks came our way we stood to one side, them to the other, and you do get a very good 2mt distance, not many folks here to stroll down there, but imagine if Malaga goes through to phase 3 on Monday (8th) more folks will be down there, so the full paseo will be needed...hoping the shops get folks money and not the LLM, they add nothing to the economy at all!
It looks dire down there right now with so many shutters closed, and rubbish blown onto terraces, maybe in 2-3weeks things will look much different..
Just off to Beny's for my tostadas con aceite de tomate with coffee con leche.
B.T Cordabesa opens now at 5pm, so popping down there later.. x
Take Care Stay Safe..x

Thanks Rosebush! Mention of Cordobesa has made me even sadder!!! This is the time of year when we used to go to Cordoba for the Patios in Bloom competition. I have some beautiful photos from past visits. Rosebush I agree with everything you say about the LLM although I know there are folk who think they should be allowed to make a living there. However at this particularly worrying time I would just like to remind Forum members that they use bushes as a toilet and do not wash or clean their hands afterwards. In my view it is more important now than ever that no-one engages with them. ALSO.....!!!! many of them are drug dealers/suppliers as has been verified by the Police when their bags or premises have been searched. Okay, that's my morning vent over!! Cold and windy in Essex with rain forecast. Nesting birds and fledglings have stopped me doing jobs in the garden and now it's the weather! Sorry if I have offended anyone regarding the LLM. Take care and keep safe Forum Friends. Kind regards to all, BT.

Thanks for the update RB. I totally agree with you about the LLM, now is the time to stop them so that legal shopowners have a chance to try and recoup some profits. Yes BT, I agree with your sentiments completely!

Question for Rosebush please! Are the Bureau de Change open yet? Not that we can get there but husband asks random questions! That's what social isolation has done to him!! Rubens appears to be closed from their website. Our next flight out is due to be 7th July.................... Take care and fond regards, BT.
