It has been recommended that bars and restaurants close for a period of time similar to Benidorm.
A meeting is to place place and an announcement is expected tomorrow

Thank you Robert, Nick, Neil and Rosebush for your updates. Nick, I did mean my area in the UK....Romford, Essex, where a woman died with the virus. My grandson also works for a company based in the US and will be working from home. He lives with his parents who are dreading it!!!! Husband and I went out to our favourite restaurant (in Essex) last night and it's often difficult to get a table. There were 6 customers. Things are not looking good. Keep safe and well folks. Kind regards, BT.

CB's now closed. A lot of Spanish bars are closing. The opinion on Spanish sites is that the British bars and tourists are selfish. They are helping to spread the virus and everywhere should close. The sooner it's closed down the better chance of containment and possibly of saving the tourist industry and their businesses.

Benal beaches open from Bil Bil up to Marina at 1pm, folks sunbathing and all bars open, although it was quiet for a Saturday lunchtime, Gamonal & Arroyo busy and both Sq's... but still awaiting official announcements, most think it will be total lock down for 15days xx

Monty hope Jet2 have sorted something out for you, either hotel room or found alternative flight with another airline..xx
In my opinion Jet 2 should have landed all flights in transit, then cancelled all further flights, so awful to be 45mins to landing then being told we are taking you back to UK! much better to have made this decision before take off.. x

Maybe Jet 2 didn't make the decision. Maybe it was made for them by Spanish airtraffic control and they had no choice. Although I guess if that was the case why just Jet 2.? Why not Ryanair, Easyjet et all.?
If it was their decision then I agree with you as they would seem to be putting profit before their passengers safely. But why just them. Why don't the other airlines now follow suit and cancel all flights to Spain. It would at least help the situation as people would know where they stand and we wouldn't have half of the conversations that we are having on social media.
We have flights booked for the 30th March and have decided that unless there's a dramatic change ( which I can't see happening) that we will change our dates. The problem is when do we change them to as this could go on for a while. 🤔🤔🤔

Robert after all social events cancelled last week and this 2 week lock down imposed things may ease, hopefully there will not be any new cases after the 15days so restrictions can end, but it's just a case of wait and see, such a shame the impact will hit small bars, but it seems the lock down was the only option left..just a bit scary being here and not at home...but fingers crossed it works, sorry you will miss you March visit.. x

The problem with that Rosebush is that when you open back up for business then the cases will start again, you can't really keep it out like that unfortunately, these kind of measures just slow things down a bit. I keep seeing the phrase "flatten the curve" at the minute. I see this morning that the Foreign Office is now advising against all non-essential travel to the whole country: www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/spain

We arrived back in manchester 4 hours late, glad to be home. If we have lockdown i would rather be here. I have been reading this morning that the police were visiting bars around benalmadena last night to tell them they had to close immediately.

Hi monty1! Woke up at 6 am wondering if you were still in Malaga! So pleased that you are back in Manchester. Which airline flew you home? Heard easyJet have also cancelled all flights to Spain so we should get our money back. Keep well. I'm off birding today to get away from the panic and the TV!! A bit of peace out on the marshes! Kind regards, BT

Nick when we left the Bonanza Sq at 10.15pm we didn't see any police, but it was very quiet, as intended we came straight back to our apt, we did see the OK Restaurant were still serving customers on the terrace but their gates were locked..
What's confusing right now is lockdown should start tomorrow at 8am, but rumour is it started last night, so not sure if we can go for quick walk now or not, we are not stopping anywhere just taking a walk for exercise as I have arthritis, and Dr's orders are two 30min walks each day...
I can only pop to shop if I go out from tomorrow, which takes 20mins so can follow Dr's instructions, hubby cannot come with me as its only one person per household allowed out..
If after all Spain has done last week, and lock down now for 2 weeks, doesn't work..not sure what happens everyone cannot just stay indoors for months.. xxx
UK appear to be doing much less, so they need to get moving!!
Monty so pleased you are home now..xx
