I am just so happy we can go for a 'free' walk on Saturday, will not be going far, but just to walk to the Marina with my Hubby will be heaven..
Benal so far has been the best town to comply with lockdown restrictions..
Stay Safe..x

Good to hear from you Rosebush. Enjoy your walk! I can see from local webcams just how empty the road and streets are, and it's good to know that folk are complying. I went to Aldi for essential shopping today and was close to screaming at people who brushed past me, walked towards me instead of following arrows and 2 metre lines and tried to jump the queue in front of me. No staff inside the store to ensure compliance. Aldi has lost my (infrequent!) custom! And I will be complaining! Rain here for last two days which will hopefully keep the Covidiots indoors.
Take care everyone. Norman and Mary.....how are you? Kind regards, BT

Proposed time slots for adult exercise. Taken from N332. Walks and exercise starting 2nd May The following information has been taken and translated from a live press conference given by Salvador Illa, Health Minister, today 30th April 2020 at 6pm. The population (from 14 year olds upwards) will be allowed to take walks and do exercise from Saturday 2nd May. The ‘de-escalation’ Committee has established "time slots" to organize the outings of the population and protect the most vulnerable groups. The decision was made "according to the data that shows the good evolution of the pandemic in Spain," they explain. ⭐️ Adults from the age 14 years old upwards may go out for walks or to do exercise within the time slot of 6am to 10am, and from 8pm to 11pm. Once a day, one hour only. Maximum 1km. ⭐️ Dependent adults (elderly, those with a carer, etc) may go out between 10am and 12 midday, and between 7pm and 8pm. Once a day, one hour. Maximum 1km. ⭐️ Children (under 14 years old) may now only go out between 12 midday and 7pm. Under the same conditions as before, with only 1 adult, maximum 3 children. No meetings with other children nor adults, nor playing with others. Once a day, one hour. Maximum 1km. ✅ You may use bicycles, scooters, roller-skates, surf boards even! As long as the sport that you are practicing, you do it ALONE. Once a day inside your municipality. ✅ You may take a walk with one other person, with whom you live. 1 hour, 1km, once a day. ✅ And always clean/disinfect all equipment used while outside, when back home. And of course, wash your hands well, etc. These are government recommendations. ✅ When going out for the walk with persons from your same home, it is highly recommended to wear a mask. It is understood that when practicing exercise or sport, it is not so easy to wear a mask, due to heavy breathing etc. ✅ You must at ALL TIMES keep at least a 2 metre distance from all other persons. Remember, the walk (which can be done with ONE PERSON ONLY, who lives with you), is different to the exercise, that must be done alone. For example, to go out to cycle or a run, you must go alone. If you are just going for a normal short walk, you can do it with someone you live with. 🚫You must NOT use communal sport areas for example; tennis courts, football pitches, etc. The use of these areas is NOT PERMITTED. 🚫No comment was given on golf courses. We would assume it counts as a communal sport area. 🚫You cannot take your car to go somewhere else, further away, for your walk or exercise. You must stay in your own municipality, and only go as far as 1km from your home, without taking your car. Each town hall may also give further regulations for their town. This news is for Spain in general. In municipalities with a population of less than 5.000, these time slots do not apply. Those who live in such towns may do exercise/walks from 6am – 11pm, as there will be no risk of overcrowding. Definition of dependent person: “A dependent person is one who has limitations to carry out one or more basic life activities, such as dressing, washing, cooking or shopping.” Source: Google. Hi Folks, after 7weeks in lockdown we had our first walk today along the paseo and around the Marina area it was heaven not to many people around, only saw the odd one not wearing a mask, and everyone kept their distance
Did bit of shopping as well, as we were near to Lidl thought we would queue and get our few items there, my list contained chocolate, biscuits and Cava so was a happy bunny however it was so hot and the walk up hill was a bit exhausting but ready to do it again tomorrow..
Monday hoping to see a few more shops open in and around Arroyo, should be hardware, hairdressers, bookshops, bars selling takeaway can now allow customers to collect their food order, although a couple have been doing this already, we are hoping to get a takeaway Spanish coffee ??
Looks like no flights will allowed into Malaga until year end, so our return journey will be taxi to Gib, flight to Heathrow and taxi back to West Mids, expensive trip home but only option...also the Brits sadly will be last one's allowed into Spain if media news is correct...but feel it will take until end of year for hotels to be up and running at full capacity if ever that's allowed..
Take Care Stay Safe..xx

Thanks for the info Rosebush and I am so pleased you got your walk in! Which airline will fly you to Heathrow? I'm actually not surprised at the info you shared and I had already resigned myself to the fact that I may not walk through my front door in Benal this year.😢😢😢 Wish I hadn't left all my decent summer clothes there though!! Mind you I'll only be in my Essex garden this summer judging by our Covid-19 stats. If I had a pair of PJ's I'd be in them all day!! Take care and enjoy a bit of freedom. I'll raise a glass of Cava to you tonight! To all Benal friends...........Take care and stay safe. Fond regards to you all, BT.

New rules have been passed or adjusted regarding increasing the number of people travelling in plblic trsnsport. Masks MUST be worn on public transport.
There is some confusion as to whether the rule allowing two people to sit beside each other ( keeping as far apart as possible) applies to private cars as well. Hopefully this will become clearer tomorrow.

Hey everyone - I hope all ok? Who's still in town? Thanks for the info Robert, really useful.
We're due to come out 2nd August - slightly optimistic but also a realist and am making assumptions that even that may not happen.
Lovely to see some pictures starting to emerge now though as people are able to start getting out. I have colleagues in Granada who I know have been struggling in their apartments, hopefully they'll get some respite too.
Stay safe all Nick

Clarification on the recent changes to travel restrictions from N332.
- “Vehículos privados particulares” means privately owned cars.
- "Transporte Público de Viajeros hasta 9 Plazas" means a TAXI.
Remember that although it is allowed to travel more passengers it must be for justified reasons.
This is not an excuse for going all together in the car for doing things that the driver could do by himself.
This seems to be a change to the sitting positions in the car rather than the reasons for being in it.

Hi Folks,
Looks like all change in Spain from Monday, we are still awaiting speech from P.M Sanchez for actual details, but hopefully some bars open to 50% capacity but terrace service only, have been speaking to some owners and the rules are very confusing, some of them going to wait until Sept before opening, each time you are served a drink/food the waiter has to dispose of his gloves, and put new ones on to serve next customer, premises have to be evacuated every 2 hours for full disinfecting!! markers put in place with red tape every 2 mts, rules are no one to enter 'inside' of premises but that's were toilets and hand washing facilities are?? and the list goes on
I know we need to be safe, but not sure how all the rules will work and who will police them!! however some bars are giving it a go, and hoping police accept their measures if they call in and check premises, all I want is a Spanish coffee ....also think exercise times will have to change, as no chance to sit drink & eat within one hour
Hope all in UK are coping with lockdown, and you are not seeing silly people breaking the rules..
Stay Safe..xx

Looks like a slight set back. We will be staying in phase zero for at least another week so bars can now not open until 18th May.

So sad for all bar owners that had worked so hard to get bars ready to open, the mood here really changed Saturday, members of so many social media sites were very angry saying it was all down to politics that we did not move to phase 1, and Benal Mayor saying its the fault of all residents for not obeying the rules, not sure what's been happening up in the hills, but down here on the coast its been very quiet, we were shocked on Saturday night only a few came out for the nighty applause, same this evening, really hope by Thursday Malaga gets through to next phase just to lifts everyone's spirit, I'm a guest here so cannot comment on the politics...
However the weather has been great for days now, cool wind though after lunch today, and mixed days during coming week of sun & showers, still enjoying distance chats- drinks with our lovely neighbours, and had another birthday party on Friday, so still have a social distance calendar had our morning walk along paseo 11am so quiet, not a lookey lookey man in site
However in Andalusia up to noon today 3 lives lost to the virus so hoping for zero figure soon.. Feeling so much sadness for deaths in whole of UK, each day we hope figures have drastically fallen but that rate is so slow..
I see UK on lockdown for another 3 weeks with many changes now and from June 1st, hope there is not another virus peak, we will have to quarantine for 2 weeks when we get back next month, but will have so much to do at home, that time will soon pass..
Stay Safe..xx

Hi Rosebush and hubby! So good to hear from you. Glad that you are enjoying the walks and friendship of your neighbours. I miss our Spanish neighbours who are such nice people. The change in policy regarding bars etc was very sudden wasn't it? As you say, so many owners had worked hard to prepare for re-opening, but hopefully if it is safe to do so, they will start soon. Where are the LLM? Did they return to Senegal or are they too in lock-down? Lock-down in Essex hasn't changed! Our street enjoyed the VE Day Anniversary on Friday afternoon with music, dancing in the front garden and toasting the neighbours from a distance! It was a very emotional day, starting with the 2 minutes silence at 11 am. The whole street was out and it was eerily silent, as of course it should have been. I thought I was all cried out but no! Still haven't done all the jobs I had hoped to do during lock-down. They are garden/outdoors related and with so many birds nesting I don't want to disturb them!! Talking of gardens, I wonder if Robert has started/finished his next project? My poor Mum is in lock-down in a Care Home in Cambridgeshire and I haven't seen her for weeks. She's locked in her room as the home has a Covid-19 outbreak which has made it so much worse for her. Fortunately I can phone her every day and she's quite philosophical about it all! At £1500.00 a week it's an expensive cell!! Take care my Forum Friends. I am looking forward to the day we can share our Benalmadena stories. Kind regards to you all, BT.
